Fitness Class Descriptions

CYCLING CLASSES:

SPIN:  Get in gear to challenge your lungs, legs and heart in these energy filled classes.  Simulate open road cruises, challenging road climbs and everything in between.  All levels welcome.  No coordination required - just a willing spirit, mind and body.  50 min (Level 2-4)

GROUP FITNESS CLASSES

BEACH BODY CLUB: 
Workout will vary week to week from one of the following fitness programs: P90X, P90X2, P90X3, Insanity, Insanity Asylum 1 and 2; Insanity Max30; Body Beast; Hard Corps 22; Rev Abs.  Class may be cardio, resistance, or a combination.  It will be fun and most will find it challenging.  Modifications will be offered for those who are in need. Time will range from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the workout.

BOOT CAMP:  Simple, intense workout combining cardiovascular, resistance and sports training that is physically challenging and a ton of fun.  Teamwork, Motivation, Accountability, Diversity, Results, Camaraderie and Spirit!  Class indoors and outdoors!  Get ready to “SWEAT.”  50 minutes Level 2-4)

BOXING FUSION: A fast paced circuit with a boxing flavor designed to improve your strength and fitness. A great mix of cardio, core strength, resistance work and some boxing too. (Level 2-4) 50 minutes

BUILD & BURN: Weight training circuit and cardio on the upstairs equipment. 

CrossFIRE: Looking for the perfect combination of heart pumping cardio and intense strength training? This class is it. Each week both the format and the equipment used will change to make for increased calorie burn and total body workout. Class held on gym floor. (level 2-4)

Dance Circuit: Dancing burns lots of calories. Dance also comes with other health benefits like better mood, better coordination, less anxiety and a sharper brain. This class incorporates a variety of style of dance along with light weight body sculpting.

HIIT: High Intensity Interval Training is a training technique in which you give all-out, one hundred percent effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short, sometimes active, recovery periods. This type of training gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns more fat in less time.(levels 2-3) 50 minutes​

IGNITE: 45 minute workout that includes high intense interval training. A well balanced combination of plyometrics, boot camp style, and strength training exercises. This class is designed to push your limits and help you reach your fitness goals faster. (levels 2-4)

MUSCLE PUMP: This is a barbell class that shapes, tones and strengthens your entire body. High repetitions will help you achieve strength and lean muscle mass.

PILATES: This class is designed to train the body in proper alignment using the strength of the smaller muscles to develop balance throughout the body.  Pilates will help create a longer, leaner look.  Stand taller, feel more powerful and breathe more deeply.  50 minutes

PiYo: Combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. And, we crank up the speed to deliver a true fat-burning, low-impact workout that leaves your body looking long, lean, and incredibly defined. (Levels 2-4) 50 min 

POUND: Combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and pilates-inspired movements. Using Ripstix®, lightly weighted drumsticks engineered specifically for exercising, POUND transforms. drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out. POUND is designed for all fitness levels. Perfect atmosphere for letting loose, getting energized, toning up and rockin’ out! Class held in Group X Room. (Levels 2-3)

PRAYER:  Does your soul need some strengthening?  Join us in the Prayer Room to experience the power of prayer.

RIP-Row: A 45 minute total body experience that will give you a great cardio and strength training workout all in one class. Dumb bells, bands and balls are used for the strength training portion and different waves on the rower are used for the cardio portion. Class held in Group X room. (levels 2-4)

STRETCH & RELAX:  The name says it all.  Those muscles deserve it! 50 minutes

TRACK WORKOUT: Wednesdays 5 A.M. at Hot Springs High School starts January, 9th! Meet on the track. All levels of walkers/runners welcome! Intervals are designed to build speed and strength by working your anaerobic system, or lactate threshold. Sign up to receive text message from Amy that includes the workout. Text is sent the day before. Short term goal: Sign up and join our team for the Van Davis 5k run/walk February 16th.

TRIPLE THREAT: Getting the most out of your workout by combining cardio, strength, and core training in 50 minutes.

YOGA: Postures are practiced to align, strengthen and promote flexibility in the body. Breathing techniques are integrated. You can expect an emphasis on simplicity, repetition, and ease of movement. Full-body relaxation and balance are the goals, as we make a full circuit of the body’s range of motion with standing postures, twists, backbends, forward folds, and hip openers.


YOGA BLEND: Light Yoga, Tai Chi Chair Stretch, Level 2-3, 45 min


FIT KIDS:
AGES 5-12: Kids will get the exercise they need to grow healthy, strong and fit, all the while having a blast in an exciting, noncompetitive, social atmosphere. Class is held both indoors and outdoors.  50 minutes 


SENIOR CLASSES

SilverSneakers CLASSIC:  Muscular Strength & Range of Movement is the core class for Health ways’ group exercise program.  It is designed to increase strength, range of movement, agility, balance and coordination, and to improve participants’ functional capacities, physical fitness level and sense of well-being. (Level 1) 45 minutes

SENIOR CIRCUIT: 
This is a fast paced interval class for active seniors looking to build muscular strength and endurance. Class is held in the upstairs weight room. Station rotation of weight machines and cardio exercises.

SENIOR PILATES:  Pilates retrains the body to move in a safer, more efficient pattern of motion.  Pilates is gentle to the body while giving a challenging workout.  Many exercises are performed in sitting or reclining positions and are low impact and partially weight bearing.  Pilates is used in physical therapy facilities to rehabilitate injuries. (Level 2) 45 minutes

SENIOR Rip-Row: A 45 minute total body experience that will give you a great cardio and strength training workout all in one class. Dumb bells, bands and balls are used for the strength training portion and different waves on the rower are used for the cardio portion. Class held in Group X room. (levels 1-2)

SENIOR STRENGTH:  Basic weight training class that will increase bone density, decrease risk of osteoporosis, increase metabolic rate while decreasing body fat, increase strength and endurance, and prevent injuries. (Level 1-2) 45 minutes

SENIOR STRETCH: The class will move their whole body through a series of seated and standing stretching positions. The chair provides support for both standing and seated positions to help increase flexibility and range of movement. Great for ALL levels of fitness and ALL ages who are interested in working on balance, flexibility and relaxing to promote stress reduction and mental clarity.  45 minutes

ROCK STEADY BOXING:
​ 
A unique exercise program, based on training used by boxing pros and adapted to people with Parkinson’s disease will now be available in the Hot Springs area. The program involves regular exercises, such as stretching, bicycling, running, walking, jump-roping, push-ups, balancing, voice activation and lots of non-contact boxing, led by experienced trainers/coaches.  Rock Steady Boxing serves both men and women of all ages and levels of ability.
